Daniela

Hi, I’m Daniela Parkes

I’m a big fan of storytelling.

Once an actress and now a casting director, I know how stories can be used to persuade, influence, and inspire others.

Every project and every talent I have worked with is unique, and I like nothing more than to find the right person for the right shoot.

What Daniela Wants You To Know About Her

I was fascinated by stories from a very young age and I wasn’t picky about their format I loved them all: written, performed, bedtime, audio booked. As a child, I had a wild and vivid imagination constantly creating. My sister and I would often judge and rank our babysitters based on their ability to create original content bedtime stories and we were ruthless with them. I feel no shame in admitting it.

Eventually this need to continuously create and listen to stories developed into a passion for theatre and after completing my degree in Drama, I decided to explore another passion of mine, languages. I decided to move to China to learn Mandarin. The experience allowed me to grow, explore a new culture and gave me lots of stories to tell. I returned to Europe in 2017, where I installed myself to work in Spain, a perfect blend of Latin American charm and a dash of European structure. I worked as a casting assistant until I became a freelance casting associate and tour guide. I am now a full-time casting director once more.

In casting, I am directing actors by coaxing a unique portrayal for each part, when guiding I meet people constantly, get to know them very well, and share some stories.

I understand the importance of cultural diversity when storytelling, the theatrical skills needed to build and sustain suspense and the best way to adapt stories to a variety of individuals. I measure my life in stories and relentlessly thrive to keep learning.

I believe stories are the key to helping shape our perception of the world and are an essential took for clear communication. Having had the opportunity to travel around Europe in order to teach people the skills required to be an effective and engaging storyteller has been the most exciting part of my story so far.
